Indy: City Of Opportunity
Just five miles south of the Butler campus is downtown Indianapolis, the nation’s 13th largest city. Affectionately know as “Indy,” Indianapolis is a great combination of big-city culture and Midwestern friendliness. It’s also an up-and-comer in the emerging life sciences industry with more than 13 additional life sciences projects scheduled to be completed in the next five years.
Indy is known as the Crossroads of America because more interstate highways bisect our city and state than any other in the country. Half the nation's population is within a day's drive. That puts you right in the middle of a lot of action – and opportunities for jobs, volunteering and fun.
No, we aren’t the Chamber of Commerce that uses phrases like “a fresh and diverse cultural city with an enriching array of arts, attractions, historical sites and special events” to describe Indy. But, we’ll tell you that you’ll never run out of interesting things to see, do, taste, feel and experience here.
Our students rave about an eclectic section of the city called Broad Ripple that’s just five minutes from campus. “The Ripple” features boutiques, cafés, galleries and bungalows set between beautiful greenways and waterways. At night it pulses with the beat of the most original music venues and destinations in the city.
