Study Abroad

If you want to see the world, experience a foreign culture, make new friends and expand your horizons, then study abroad is for you. With more than 110 study abroad programs in over 40 countries available through our Office of International Programs and the Institute for Study Abroad you can earn credits while exploring the world.

IFSA helps students through the application process, assists with travel plans, arranges overseas housing and provides all the information you’ll need to know about living abroad. In addition to the Indianapolis office, IFSA has fully staffed offices in countries around the world.

You may choose to spend a semester or an entire year studying abroad. You may study abroad as early as the first semester of your sophomore year or as late as your senior year, as determined by your class schedule.

Semester in Spain

A faculty-led program at the University of Alcalá de Henares each fall term lets you experience life with a Spanish family while living in their home or in a residence hall. The entire semester’s load of 12 credits can be applied toward the Spanish major and minor at Butler, or count as electives.
