Well it's Friday! Which means I have offically survived my first week back from SB '09 (aka Spring Break). I had the BEST time ever and certainly did not want to come back at all. In fact, we almost didn't make it back...
On our way driving home from Georgia the transmission in our van went out. And we wound up stranded. On the side of the road. With three-lane rush hour traffic. Talk about terrifying!! We sat for nearly an hour and a half waiting on family friends to take four of the others the nearest IHOP, while two of us stayed and waited for the tow truck. After finally all meeting up at an IHOP about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, we knew we'd have to figure out where to go from there. Needless to say, no parents were anxious to drive the nine hours down to pick us up, nor were Tyler's parents any too anxious to pay a few thousand dollars to have their older van fixed. After much MUCH Googling (thank goodness for an iPhone!) and lots of thinking, we finally booked ourselves a rental car that we were to pick up from the ATL airport at midnight. Enter more family friends to drive us to the airport. Well of course, by the time we finally got the rental car (which we had to take a shuttle to get to and wait 10 minutes for it to be cleaned out) it was nearly 1:30am by the time we got back to the others and everyone was exhausted. So...we wound up getting a hotel room at the hotel in which the others had been sitting in with our luggage. Phew!! By 8am the next morning we were reloaded and on the road homeward bound once again. Talk about crazy!! Lesson learned: never be without great friends, AAA, and an iPhone!
Anyhow, after finally making it back home again to Indiana, it was soon time to get back into the school mode. After a week of relaxing by the pool and hot tub with friends in beautiful 80 degree weather, it was so hard to focus on school again!! I finally realized that I have so many projects due here coming up so soon. I have a feeling these last few weeks of school are going to fly by!! YIKES!!
Okay, well, I'll write more shortly but for now it's time to head to bed. I am running in my first official road race tomorrow -- the Bulldog Job 5k! I'm slightly nervous just because I've never been in a race before. Although luckily I've been running quite a bit so the distance should not be a problem. Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather that is starting to come around!! :)
