Butler University

...it's off to the "Real World" I go!

Well I've been putting it off, but I guess it's that time.  I'm done with classes.  I'm FINALLY done with finals (I had one on the last possible day!!) and I'm officially two days away from GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE?!  What in the world??  When did that happen??  I'm still not sure that I'm ready for the whole thing.  College has truly been one of the best times of my life.  I know I've grown as a person and in my skills with each year that has passed and with each person that I met.  Butler really was the perfect fit and my experience would not have been as great if I had been anywhere else.  I thought and thought about what I would want to say in this final post, but I came to the conclusion that I think the best thing I could do at this point would be to offer some advice.  So here it is...  My top 10 list of advice for college!!  Read it, take it to heart, and get excited to have the best four years of your life.  :)  AND you can look for me in the working world here in Indianapolis.  Yikes!!  Wish me luck!

Advice for College Student:  Top 10

10.  Get involved.  With everything.  You can always decide later what you don't want to do and you'll meet a ton of people in the process.

9.  Get to know your professors!  They know everything and have amazing connections...  Not to metion they are genuinely nice people!

8.  Don't close your door freshmen year.  As much as you might not like some of those in your hall, by leaving your door open you'll get to meet so many more people.

7.  Don't be judgemental.  Just because someone is different than you are doesn't mean they might not someday become your best friend!

6.  Do stupid things.  Okay, not stupid as in illegal, but stupid as in fun.  Jump in star fountain, stay up late when you have an exam the next day, take random late-night trips to McDonald's with friends.

5.  Never be afraid to introduce yourself to someone.  If you can learn to just stick out your hand and introduce yourself whenever you're standing with people you don't know, you'll be amazed...  Your friend group with definitely quadruple!

4.  Study abroad.  Just do it!!  Even if you're terrified, it will for sure be the best experience of your LIFE!!

3.  Don't take your GPA too seriously.  You're smart...you'll do just fine...  Don't spend hours studying and freaking out about things that you don't need to.  It's not the nights of studying that you will remember when you graduate.

2.  Take lots of pictures.  Now that I'm about to graduate, I'm wishing I had taken a lot more...

1.  Have FUN!!  Don't leave every weekend...  Let yourself go at Butler and live it up to the fullest, you'll be sad when it ends!

And that, my friends, is a wrap.  I've loved blogging for you this past year!  Thank you for the experience and good luck with everything...  See you out there in the real world!

Good luck on getting a job you will look back on your Uni days with very fond memories and hopefully you have made some friends who will stay with you for life.

Those are some good tips to go by for any newbies at college, when I went to uni it was much the same. Make the most of it while you're there as it's a unique time that will never be repeated (unless you mess up your exams, hehe).
