Butler University

Three Day Weekend Extravaganza!

Technically, this weekend isn't supposed to be a "long weekend" but every year Butler hosts the Undergraduate Research Conference (URC), and a lot of classrooms are taken up with presentations, which results in a lot of classes being cancelled for that day. However, every year my professors have either required us to go to presentations and write about them for an assignment, or going to presentations has been extra credit for some or most of my classes. Having to go to a bunch of presentations doesn't usually make me qualify the day as a "day off." This year, I wasn't required to go to any presentations and I didn't have any classes offering me extra credit, so in complete slacker style, I decided not to go. Yes, I know that it could have broadened my horizons, made me think of options for my Pharm.D. project in my P4 year, and all that good stuff. But let's face it....I'm exhausted. I've had a lot going on lately, and I desperately needed a "sleep in, then sit on the couch, then shower, then maybe consider getting a bit of work done" kind of day.

I can't believe that the school year is almost coming to a close. I've only got one more chapter meeting for Kappa Psi, and we're having a picnic with another pharmacy fraternity, Phi Delta Chi, on the last day of classes. I've got all my lab finals coming up this week, so no doubt I'll be fretting about them for the next couple of days, but at least they'll be over by Wednesday morning. I find lab finals to be somewhat terrifying because they test to see if we could figure out real-life situations without going and consulting our notes and resources. Generally I feel really unprepared, because often we only get to cover certain topics in lab once. I suppose it works though, because Butler grads always seem really prepared when they get out in the real world.

I'm off to do a bit of studying, and then I'm going to go get a much-needed pedicure!

Until later,

Ashlen
