I can never figure out why all the big, awesome events on campus seem to occur the week or two weeks before finals. It really makes you pick and choose what you can attend, and what you're going to have to miss. Here are a couple of things that are going on in my world, and unfortunately, they're not all booked into my schedule
Professional Partners Picnic - this was a pharmacy event that happened yesterday. I needed food for lunch, therefore, I went. The food is free (hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, drinks) and you have the opportunity to go around and talk to the professional partners of the COPHS (CVS, Kroger, Walmart, just to name a few). I'm not in need of a summer job, so it wasn't as big of a deal for me, but one of my friends was still looking around and ended up being hired by Walmart at the picnic. Pretty sweet deal, right? Anyway, the weather was gorgeous, I got to see a lot of my friends, and they actually had a parrot at the event (the whole thing was pirate themed).
Kappa Psi / Phi Delta Chi Picnic - yes, college students like food, hence all these picnics. I'm hoping that the Kappa Psi picnic has the same awesome weather as the picnic yesterday. Kappa Psi had a picnic with Phi Delta Chi (another pharmacy fraternity) last year, and it was a lot of fun. We always try and get together for at least one event every year. I need food, and I actually arranged for the picnic to happen (I'm Corresponding Secretary, so my job is to set stuff like this up) so I'm going to be there. Yay for more food!
Out of the Dawg House Spring Concert - OOTDH is an all male a cappella group on campus, and they are basically the most amazing thing ever. I own two of their cds, and I have gone to many of their concerts in the past. I recommend everyone goes to their concert as a freshman....I promise you won't be disappointed. That said, their spring concert is this weekend, and I've decided I need to spend the time studying for finals. Boo.
So the year is coming to an end. I can't believe how fast it's gone. I think this year has gone by quicker than all my other years on campus, probably because I've kept myself so busy!
Until later,
Ashlen
