The 3 F's: Friends, Family, and FOOD!

Good thing Santa Claus doesn't check my blog; I'm not sure I would have gotten any presents if he did... But I AM still alive! It's so easy to just relax over Christmas break. I have a lot of stuff to do for Recruitment, which is coming up January 9th, but no classes to worry about, and no work, so the livin's pretty easy.

One of my good friends from high school flew in from Santa Barbara late last Friday night, so he drove home (about 2 hours) with me. Since then, I've hung out with a lot of friends from high school, and spent a lot of time with the Fam. We go to my mom's side on Christmas Eve, and then to my dad's side on Christmas Day. I got a lot of money, some gift cards, and the crucial Joseph Addai Colts jersey!! (I think it's almost impossible to NOT be a Colt's fan if you're living in Indianapolis. I went downtown for their season opener early in the semester and I'm pretty sure I counted maybe 4 or 5 people who weren't wearing Colts blue.)

With my Christmas money, I'm going to order this Language on CD set for Chinese, it's called Pimsleur, so that I can really just dive into learning the language this coming semester. I've talked with the Chinese professor (the Intro class isn't offered second semester...it wouldn't work with my schedule anyway because it's like four days a week), and she's given me some great resources, and the contact info of some Chinese MBA students who may want to do a 'language swap' with me, where I would help them with English and they'd help me with Chinese. I'm really excited--I want to move there eventually, because there is so much opportunity there.

So back to the most important F -- Food!! It's one of my favorite traditions of the holiday season. My dad has 9, yes 9! sisters, and they all have a sort of speciality dish that they bring to Christmas. My favorites are homemade macaroni and cheese, baked mashed potatoes, spicy rice, broccoli casserole, and really, really good gravy. On my mom's side, my Grandma always makes caramels every year, and it's like a party in your mouth, they are so good.

Other good food around this time of year includes BIRTHDAY CAKE as my 22nd birthday was December 20th. I was still in Indianapolis, and I had to work that day, and the next day, so the celebration was minimal, but I still had a great time with some friends at a sushi place in Broad Ripple for dinner. See pictures!

Hahahahaaa the bathroom door at Broad Ripple's newest hot spot. I thought it was hilarious.

My best friend got a flat tire. We got some boys to change the tire for us, and I thought it'd be a good idea to put the flat tire back on where the spare usually goes....it looked so jank, I couldn't stop laughing

Out spreading some holiday cheer and celebrating the end of finals!

The Big 22!! This is two of my good friends and me at my birthday dinner. We went to Naked Tchopstix, a fantastic sushi restaurant in Broad Ripple. There were only five of us, but we ordered 7 rolls of sushi, and noodles! It was yummy!

Here I am, wearing the birthday hat, and proposing to my friend with this massive fake diamond ring. Of course she said Yes!!!!
