Back from the Dead! (Motherboard)
Hey everyone! I'm back!
Sorry for not writing for FOREVER, but here's what happened: my laptop with all my stuff on it died a tragic death.
Thus I can now give you my best college advice ever: don't ever put your laptop in a tote bag with a cheap water bottle. Not even for 20 minutes! Laptops, it turns out, do not like impromptu baths in your bags. Who would've thought? ; ) Okay so my REAL advice: PAY FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON YOUR COMPUTER! That is the reason why my bank account is NOT currently empty... because I didn't have to pay for any of my repaires (or a new computer.) Also, make sure you know at least one person who works for IR (computer services) quite well so they can diagnosis your dead computer and tell you what to tell the tech support person who is probably in India and will make you go through a number of completely useless tests otherwise (thanks, Malcolm! You're the best.)
Actually, the sad thing that I discovered was that minus the temporary lack of access to my files, I could really function alright without a laptop at my house. I used my roomie's occasionally, but I mostly just became better acquainted with the many computer labs on campus: Atherton Union, Jordan Hall, Fairbanks, the Science Library, Irwin Library... I think I used over 50% of the computer labs this week. So you might ask why this is sad news? well, I discovered how much I really just WANT to have my laptop at home so I can check my email 50 times a day and update my facebook status every time something amusing happens.
Anyway, I still have 10,000 things to tell you all about, but April is SO crazy.
Today I had class/work from 8 am -5 pm and then I went to a networking event with Butler Young Alumni downtown at the (very swanky) Columbia Club! It was a blast because I went with some BU Student Foundation friends and we got to talk to some alumni who actually used to be in our organization. I also met many of the Young Alumni Board members who we are doing a service project with next weekend - can't wait for that. They were really nice and gave me lots of encouraging advice about being a liberal arts major! (Their words of wisdom: do lots of internships.) After that, I went to Qdoba in Broad Ripple with my roomies because they were having a give-back night for the Children's Wish Fund that the Recording Industry Club supports. It was a good excuse to spend some time together. As usual, I laughed so hard, I almost cried. My roommates are THE BEST.
Tonight I will probably be up for another hour or two finishing a Postmodernism paper and C&T overnight write. Tomorrow I am getting up early to go running with my friend Chris because it's SPRING, finally, and so we can run outside. After that it's going to be a looooong Friday, but I cancelled all my Saturday plans for an all-day study party. I'm actually really excited about that, because the pace of life lately has been too crazy.
Right now it's been raining all night and it is cool outside and the sound is quite relaxing... life is good.
