Butler University

winter

so.....i'm guessing most everyone is a little tired of winter. what's funny is that a friend of mine in argentina is equally tired of summer and the 100+ temps.  i guess it's all relative.

while all that's going on, we in admission have been working.  and working. and working.  we have had a ton of events, and hopefully lots of you have been able to take advantage of the admitted student basketball games....yes, i said basketball games. in case you haven't noticed, bu men's b'ball is ranked #11 in the country.  and before any of you jump all over me, yes, we lost on monday to green bay. but, our rpi rating did...not...move.  awesome! we are still ranked #9 in rpi, which means we are still among the best.  i would love to see us win out from here and get a nice 3 or 4 seed in the tourney.

anyway, back to the events.  we still have more coming up, like scholars forum.  that's coming up this weekend and next.  i hope i get to meet with some of my students from indiana and michigan.

while it's been tough to be working so many evenings and weekends, it is pretty gratifying to meet and talk with some really great students.  at a pharmacy event last week, i had lunch with a family (not even from my territory!) and walked away so impressed by the maturity and brightness of this girl. she was interviweing for a lilly scholarship--hopefully it went well, i think it was this week.  she volunteered in a pharmacy, was super involved, and just a great example of what i think defines a butler student.

on a final note, has anyone heard the most recent album by tv on the radio? it is one of the most unusual cd's i've heard in some time.  i feel kinda like the first time i heard radiohead albums; so groundbreaking. a little bob mould, a little prince, very funky. anyone who has heard some interesting music, please send me suggestions.  i'm getting into a mode of really wanting to hear new tunes....but i'm old school: i buy cd's......:)
