January FLEW by. I think that's all I can say, because it truly was a blur of reading files and making decisions, attending events for admitted students and meeting with families who have been admitted. Time has completely gotten away from me, so hopefully February slows down...at least a little. ;)

We had another admission deadline, this time on January 15th. Those admission decisions were mailed last Friday, so if you haven't heard yet, you should soon. Good luck to all those who applied EA2. I'm sure you all are thinking time is flying as well...as we are already getting into thoughts of prom, graduation and the like. It's been fun to be so busy, and to see SO many students excited about attending Butler. We hosted events for admitted students where they could come to campus for basketball games and tailgating, and we had AWESOME turnout. It's always fun for us admission counselors to get to meet students we haven't yet, or parents, families and siblings who might not have made the trip to Indy before. All three games we hosted events for, we won. I loved it! I was so glad that the students and families who got to go were treated to great games. I can only hope the basketball team keeps up their good work! They just announced a bracketbuster against Davidson towards the end of the month, so if you can, tune in to cheer the dawgs on!! The other couple of events we hosted were in Chicago, similar to the event we did in St. Louis. Both had great turnouts, and I love visiting with my students, even IF the weather is cold and miserable and snowy! I hope the students that attended these events had a good time, and got their questions answered. If you didn't, please let me know. :)

The other set of events we hosted (told you, we've been BUSY!) were for admitted Pharmacy students. They had the opportunity to come to campus, meet current faculty, staff and students AND get a better understanding of how our program works. I think they went really well, as we are hosting another towards the end of this month.

For those of you who have been admitted but haven't been to campus-please check out our visit website at http://go.butler.edu/visit and you'll see the different opportunities to choose from!

Life for me has been quiet, except for getting sick and trying to nurse this cold away. I was VERY sad, as I missed Brad's going away lunch. For those of you who don't know, Brad Ward, our AMAZING technology/communications/blog boss/amazing guy all-around, left Butler at the end of January to pursue other career options. I know that I will miss him a lot-he was a great co-worker and someone I could always go to for a good book to read, or the latest info about a number of social media outlets. He is SUCH a strong presence within our profession, especially in regards to social networking/media/communications/marketing. He will DEFINTELY be missed in our office. Brad, if you read this-I'm so sad I missed your lunch on Monday. I FULLY expect to see you soon. Make it happen, ok?! ;) I know you all will miss him on this site too...so now just come to me, a VERY distant second, if you need anything. :)

Keep it coming with questions and everything else! STAY WARM!!!+

it's december? really?!

"God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December." --James M. Barrie

(With the weather being as it is... (aka cold, rainy and snowy!) I thought this quote was kinda cute:)

So it's been awhile since I've written last. We are DEFINITELY in the thick of application reading. I'm pretty sure that's ALL I've been doing as of late, and they keep coming. Don't get me wrong-I am SO happy that all these students have been getting everything in by December first, but it has kept me busy. (And that's an understatement!!) That mid-December notification keeps looming closer, so we have been working like crazy to make sure our students don't have to wait ANY longer than necessary for their decisions. :)

Life has been really, really good as of late, and kinda busy. Last weekend Shawna came in town and stayed with Erin and I. Even though she hadn't been gone that long, I really missed her. Because she lived with us for such a good chunk of time, I feel like she's more a sister than friend. We have moved passed the whole really good friend thing and now even my parents and little sister know she's more like family!! Friday was dinner with friends at a Mexican restaurant which was SO fun. We were there for 2 hours or so, just hanging out, talking and laughing. I had to work Saturday morning and we kinda just hung out for the afternoon. Saturday night was the men's basketball game against Ohio State. I really wasn't feeling well and didn't know if I wanted to stay for the whole game. I AM SO GLAD WE DID!!!!!! The first half was ok....nothing really spectacular, and we were losing by a pretty good margin. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm REALLY glad it did! The final score ended at 65-46. BUTLER WON! I kinda still can't believe it. It was an amazing game, and I'm hoping this gives our team a little more clout as we continue on in the season. I think people are starting to realize that mid-major or not, we've got a really talented team. Congrats to them, and to the coaches. It was a great game to watch!

Sunday was relaxing with Shawna and dinner at Naked Chopstix, our favorite sushi restaurant. Nisha, Shawna, Erin and I LOVE this place. I know I've mentioned it before, but it really is one of my favorite restaurants in Indy. The four of us just had a really good weekend hanging out-we have wayyyy too much fun when we are together, and I'm really lucky to have such good girls in my life. :) (yea, yea...kinda sappy/sentimental...but very true!)

This week was pretty uneventful...(obviously when you read applications all the time...that tends to happen;) I took a day and a half off, which was SO, SO needed. You don't realize just how much you need a break, just to relax and recharge. I feel SO much better about a lot of things! :) Now I can start this next week (which should be crazy as well!!) with a clear head. (definitely grateful for that!:)

Finally-Erin and I went to visit a couple of friends that live downtown. It was REALLY good to see them both and we made dinner and hung out. A very relaxing, low-key and fun evening. Life is just really good right now!!

The rest of the weekend is hopefully along those same lines of being low-key...and I'm MORE than ok with that! I hope everyone is doing well with studies, finals and everything else. Good luck with the rest of your semesters (makes me kinda glad I'm not in school anymore! I don't envy you all!)

(One final thing-our AMAZING e-comm guy, Brad, bought a house with his wife recently. Congrats to both of them!!!)

a sleepy blog entry....

Week number five of travel....puts me more than halfway done. That seems so crazy, as time seems to have flown by, this week especially. One fair again this week means LOTS of down time, which is why I am SO thankful to have Troy around. :) This is his last week in Chicago, so we've definitely been getting some good down time in before he heads out tomorrow. Chocolate cake shakes from Portillos, BW3's and Season 1 and 2 of the Office are pretty much the highlights of the week for us! (And Christmas shopping, but SHH it seems wayyyy to early to say that) I had seen a few bits and pieces of episodes from the Office, but had never sat down and watched a full show. Now, after this week, we finished the first season and we are halfway through the second. I am addicted. What a good show!!

So yesterday, I got to go to this really cool restaurant which I have to mention. It was in Aurora, after a fair with Marmion Academy and Aurora Central Catholic High School. Walter Payton's Roundhouse Restaurant/Bar/Brewery is the name, and the place is AWESOME. If you are ever near Aurora (Downtown I think?) go check it out. The food was good and the building itself is pretty neat. It was DEFINITELY a good choice. ;) If anyone is wondering-the fair went really well! The Marmion boys are always fun to chat with, as were the students from Aurora Central. (My first visit there, from what I can remember)

I have a fair tomorrow night at the College of Lake County, which I think will be pretty busy. These next few fairs will get kind of crazy, and I had to call the office today to have them ship me some stuff. (Lame, I know, but I keep running out!) We have the big Chicago fair at the Navy Pier on Saturday, and then I'll be making the super exciting drive down to St. Louis for the big St. Louis fair on Sunday at SLU. (Almost positive it's there!!) Life is pretty crazy for the next week or so, and then everything will finally slow down for my final week of travel in IL the last week of October/first week in November.

After almost completing another year of travel, I can still say that although it's tiring and at times trying (thank you, Chicago traffic!!!) I truly, truly do love what I do and the people I work with, both at BU and the counselors I've met up here. It blows my mind that in just two weeks I'll be back in the office reading applications. For those of you who have gotten yours in-congratulations!! I'm excited to read them, and happy for you that you were so on the ball! For anyone still trying to get everything in--you still have time, and know you can always call me if you need help. :) Good luck getting everything filled out-I know what a pain it can be!

I think that's it from here. I am in some need of a good night's rest, as that hasn't been happening too often lately. (Early wake up calls and running around all day seem like they would help the sleeping thing, but it doesn't!!) Hope all is well wherever you are:) Until next time...

PS-To anyone wondering, I DID name the Garmin. His name is Gavin Wally and I can't take credit for his name. Troy and Mike came up with the two names, and I liked them both so much I used them both. So thank you to both of them and if anyone is thinking about buying one-just get it. They are amazing!!

Side note-Happy birthday to Miss Molly. Hope you had a great birthday!
