I'm finally starting to recover and getting my life together ha ha ha :)

I finally have taken a moment to breathe and wanted to let ya'll know about Coach Boone's visit to Butler! For those of you who don't know who Coach Herman Boone is, you probably remember him best played by Denzel Washington in Remember the Titans. My teammates and I went and it really amazing!! Here's a little clip of how excited we were!!!

[YouTube:JGUIgWeeQCk]

That night could have only gotten better if Chloe had actually passed out! lol! He gave a really great speech on a few different topics that were linked together with the theme of unity, gratefulness, and charity. My favorite point he made in the whole speech was about how the more we expose ourselves to diversity more of our problems that our society faces can be overcome.

It reminds me of how we always talk about diversity at Butler. I mean we talk about it a lot, but Coach Boone used some really good examples of how exposure to diversity has really changed things. It was such an amazing speech. I wish I could have recorded the whole thing!! If there's one piece of advice that I can give anybody after hearing the words of Coach Boone, it's don't miss the speakers. They just might change something in you.

Is it Dehydration or Memory Loss?

So last night I was walking to Starbucks around 10 o'clock to work on a paper, and something strange caught my eye. Now I'm known to be one to see things so I didn't think anything of it at first, but then I saw it again and this time there were two of them! "No, calm down Melody" I told myself while walking into the building. I took my seat and didn't think anything of what I "may have" or "might not have seen."

I get my usual strawberry frap with white mocha in it and find a table to work at. Well, I get my laptop turned on and then I just happen to look up at the right moment out the window facing the mall, and a huge heard of at least 100 people like figures run by in all black. Now no one else around me seemed to notice. They were all studying and chatting like nothing happened. I calmly look down at my frap that I was about to start drinking and set it on the table. I return once more to the counter and ordered a large water with extra ice. "Strange things happen when you're dehydrated." I thought out loud. The journalist in me couldn't except dehydration as the culprit behind such strange sights, so I do what any journalist would do. I investigated.

I went outside looking for the two unusual red lights I saw hovering over the star fountain on my way in. This time I got a closer look. Those two red lights were neon necklaces on two girls dressed in the same all black outfit of the heard I just saw before. I was relieved to see that I wasn't seeing hallucinations and asked what was going on. They said it was a CSI scavenger hunt for homecoming week.

The world was making sense again. I had forgotten that this is homecoming week and crazy events like this are going on till Saturday. I smiled and left them to give another clue to the next group of scavengers. After I finished my paper (and the rest of my frap.) on my way out a cluster of Sigma Chi's ran by me on their way to the next clue. I chuckled to myself and just thought my traditional thought when moments like this happen (and yes they do happen often to me) "Oh Butler." I'll let you know how the week goes. If you're in the area you should come to the football game against San Diego University. It'll be in the Butler Bowl at 1:00p.m. Saturday!

Go Dawgs!! Bark Bark!!

Melody
