I spent it with my mom this year and we always have a great time. A few days before Christmas we stopped by a little village out near where she lives. It's called Acadiana Village. It's a nice little piece of history hidden away about 20 minutes from her apartments. When we went to the shops and rides weren't open, but we still got to walk around a little.

We plan on going back when it's open before I go back to New Orleans. I had taken a few pictures of our little adventure, but my camera isn't connecting properly to my computer so I have to wait till I get back to Butler and use my card reader. Make sure to check my photos in a few weeks for pictures. I want to know what you're favorite holiday picture is. Stick it in a comment so we can see how you celebrate the holiday season!

I hope everyone has a great New Years!

A Southern Holiday

Season's greetings from the land of Jazz and seafood. This is our first Christmas that we are celebrating in the house since my dad fixed it up! The holidays these past few years really have made us grateful for what we have and for each other. It always surprises me what changes when I come back home...few more stores reopen and some people have either moved back or left all together. It just feels a little more like home each time I come back.

There are a lot of things that aren't hear anymore, but there's just something hear that every part of me senses when I'm back in the big easy. When I go to sleep in my new room and close my eyes. I can hear that familiar sound of the wind rustling the branches of the pecan tress, along with my dad's snoring. A faint smell of fried catfish lingers through the house as I drift off to dream land. The atmosphere is so different, but the old memories are what keep the New Orleans culture so vibrant despite a dinged situation. I guess change isn't such a bad thing after all. I'd love to hear what makes your home town unique or special to you. Who knows maybe we'll have something in common!
