End of the Line...

We fought hard tonight, but it's the end of the season as of tonight. We finished 5th in conference, but lost in the quarter finals of the Horizon League tournament. We played Valpo and gave it our best. We were all sad that we lost, but we couldn't help but laugh on the bus at probably one of the most embracing moments in my laugh (it was also the funniest too).

During the first game of the match, yours truly went in for a substitution. I didn't realize among all of the excitement that I had stood in water that was spilled on the floor. I ran up to the line and tried to stop when my leg slipped from under me. I then found my rear smacked against the floor in front of the whole gym and everyone who was watching on the world wide web on the Horizon League Network. I was extremely embarrassed, but couldn't help but laugh myself.

We might have lost tonight, but I know next year we will be better than ever!!! I'm going to really miss our Captain Michelle, but since she's a pharmacy major she'll still be around Butler for two more years. Everyone else is coming back on the team so we're all excited to see what the future has in store for us.

Thanks for the all the fans who supported us this season. It's going to be so exciting come next fall, and these dawgs are going to be ready!!!!

A Busy Week!!

This week was really crazy! It's kind of funny to me how the only schools that we fly to in the Horizon League are UIC and Loyola in Chicago. It's actually cheaper to fly there than to rent a bus, and I can't stop laughing at that. Well this year we had to play on Tuesday, Wednesday, and then we're playing against Wright State on Saturday. It was exciting but a little hectic at same time.

We left after practice Monday night for Chicago. It was an amazing feeling when we beat one of our biggest rivals in the conference, Loyola! It was a really energetic game for us and I was happy that our preparation payed off with a victory. Wednesday's game against University of Chicago was just as intense, but we didn't execute a victory. We're just concentrating on the good right now, and getting ready to beat Wright State on Saturday!

We're 6th in the conference right now, but this win on Saturday can really move us up in the ranking. Well, I just finished proofing an article I might submit to The Collegian and pretty worn out from the past few days. I better get my rest in because I'll need it for practice tomorrow.

Fall....What's That?

For a southern girl like me I'm really not used to this whole "season" thing. Where I come from we have a blazing hot summer, a mildly hot fall, about a month of the freezing cold temperatures with a low 37 degrees, followed by a mildly chilly spring, which is then followed by the skin melting summer. Apparently everywhere else in America that's not the case. I do have to say I always get really excited when the leaves start changing colors. It's nice not to walk out side and see green leaves one day, then the next I'm looking at the bare skeleton of what I can assume was a tree.

These past few days have warmed up. I'm still feeling the tundra of Res-Co (Residential College) in my room, but I'm elated that the temperature is staying in the 70's. You see I thought warm weather was a great request in my bed time prayers, but then I go to practice and start asking God why out of all of my prayers he answered that one. For those of you who don't know...here's a lovely Butler fact. Hinkle Field house is accredited as a historical building.

This means that there can't be any changes that would effect the historical feel and look of "Indian's basketball cathedral." This translates in no major structural changes that would take away from the field house face lift of the 80's. On warm days like today I am reminded how the Hoosiers before me didn't get to play in the AC.

I'm glad it's just mildly warm outside, and the fact that my coach likes to keep us highly hydrated does help me keep the thought of my sweat out of my mind. My friends who like to watch the games never noticed the temperature in Hinkle, of course none of us do when we're cheering at a men and women's basketball game or playing a match against another Horizon League foe for volleyball.

No matter what the temperature is I still enjoy the beauty of the day when I walk back to my dorm. I'm so excited about my second real Fall and can't wait until this time next month when all the leaves have changed and begin to fall.

I better get ready for practice. We're on the road again this weekend in Wisconsin for two more conference games and we're ready to show what the bulldogs are made of!!
