Why am I up this late on a Friday night? It's Nutcracker Spirit Weekend, of course!

Sigma Rho Delta, the honorary dance fraternity, helps the department a lot during Nutcracker season. When we kept scheduling things for this one weekend that were Nutcracker-related, we decided to informally christen it "Nutcracker Spirit Weekend." For instance, Nutcracker t-shirt designs for the t-shirt design contest were due today.

We also did the annual Indianapolis poster hanging earlier tonight. Sigma Rho Delta members and pledges meet to help put up posters advertising Butler Ballet's production of The Nutcracker around campus and around Indianapolis. It's really fun, and we all regroup afterwards to eat dinner together.

Tomorrow, we are decorating pointe shoes for the Nutcracker boutique, which I love. Anything that involved sparkly things... I'm all for it.

But the reason I'm still awake? Tomorrow we are having a pointe shoe sale/bake sale as a fundraiser for a summer dance trip--to China! I might be able to go... I'm not sure yet... More details will follow... But I'm helping with fundraising, and my friend and I spent our Friday night making these:

Cupcakes. Yum. Don't they look delicious? You can see my roommate reaching for one at the bottom of the picture.
