My trip to Franklin College

I regret to report that Reading Break '07 has come to an end. Although I'm not sure I did much actual reading, it was great to have a chance to catch up with my family and friends back home.

The majority of my time was spent relaxing at home, but I did make a trip up to Franklin College on Thursday evening. One of my best friends from high school, Alissa, is a freshman at Franklin. I had never really experienced the FC campus before, so it was nice to have a look around from a student's perspective. During my visit, however, I couldn't help but notice some differences between Franklin College and Butler University. First of all, the dorms at Franklin seem much less community-oriented. As Alissa showed me through the hallway to her dorm room, every door we passed was closed. In my unit at Schwitzer, every door is wide open and girls are constantly going in and out of various rooms. Another difference that caught my eye was the room and closet size. I don't know about you, but I LOVE to shop, and I need a closet that will support my obsession. At Franklin, the closets were more like small cupboards attached to the wall. The closet in my room at Butler is walk-in. WALK-IN, people! This is a big deal (to us shopaholics, at least)!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to step all over Franklin College. But man-oh-man, I sure am glad I picked Butler. Wink
