Stressssssed.

The title of this blog pretty much sums up my life right now. I feel like I've been running around doing a hundred things this week, and I'm about to explode! So here I am, finally done with classes for the weekend... you would think I'd be glad that it's all over, right? Well I am, somewhat... until I realize that next week is going to be even worse. The main source of my stress is coming from my psychology study, which finally got approved by the Institutional Review Board last weekend. Although this is a good thing, it means that I now have a TON of work to do. The submission deadline for SEPA, the first psych conference this year, is October 10... one week away. I've been recruiting and running subjects all week, which means that this weekend/next week will be spent scoring protocols, entering all of my data into the computer, analyzing it, and writing up a report. Yikes! Oh the woes of being a psychology major...

The good thing? Next Friday, after all of this craziness is done and over with, my sorority has its semi-formal! At least I have something to look forward to, that should keep me motivated while I'm slaving away...

Wish me luck - and come visit me at my temporary residence in the psych department!

Don't psych yourself out for it. It will most likely be easier than you think. But still study for it.

And the worst thing about it is that its incredibly boring. So bring a really good book.

Careful with bringing a book to that though.  Because it is a standardized test I don't believe any extra materials besides the calculator and admission ticket are allowed inside of the testing room.  Good luck with that  though!  I took mine yesterday, I hated it.

In reply to the first post...i want to be a psych major also.  So is it really bad or just really busy?  Do you have time for other stuff besides school work or is that it?

I'm also thinking about becoming a psych major and either minoring in spanish or buiseness. I know Butler is accredited in psychology but how do you like the program, how are your professors?

I also love to sing...are the university's choir and music departments good?

Also does Butler offer a lot of scholarships?

Don't get me wrong - I love being a psych major. And no, it's not usually this stressful, I'm just in a rush to get my study done before the conference deadline!

Also - the whole "running your own study" thing isn't mandatory... I joined a Professor's research lab to get the experience and to prepare myself for graduate school! And although this is all very stressful and crazy... I do actually enjoy it, which makes all the difference!

As for the psych department in general, I've yet to meet a professor that I haven't liked. They are not only experienced and knowledgeable, but very personable and down-to-earth.

To address the choir question, I have to admit I don't know much about it. Beside the actual classes, there are a few a cappella groups on campus though - one of my sisters just joined the all-female group, "Freshly Brewed" - they are awesome!

As far as financial aid, I know most people on campus receive aid in one way or another, but it differs on a personal basis... you might want to direct a question like that to the admissions office, though! I'm sure they'd me more helpful than me!

One more thing... I definitely, DEFINITELY have time to do stuff other than school work. Have you had the chance to look at my blog? haha :)

Ariel - Yes, classes are tough, and sometimes it can be very stressful. But if you are willing to put in the time and effort, you will do well. College is all about balancing work with fun... and there are always plenty of opportunities (more like obligations work-wise haha) for both! So don't stress... but if you do end up coming to BU be ready to study hard while also having the time of your life! :)

Jess - Butler IS beautiful, especially at this time of year when all of the leaves are changing! I remember my first campus visit... I came in the fall as well and I absolutely fell in love. Hope you enjoy seeing everything around campus as much as I did!
