Hi Steph!
The pharmacy program at Butler will only allow you to count 2 AP courses toward your pharmacy curriculum at Butler. So taking AP Calculus may not get you out of taking it in college. However, it is never a bad thing to take it. It will help to prepare your for your calculus class in college (one that a lot of people struggle with).
Business majors might consider taking AP Stats rather than AP Calc because that is closer to the curriculum they will have in college.
Also, for if anyone is graduating early, please be careful to take less than 12 credit hours of college coursework post graduation (like at a community college). If you take 12 credit hours or more, you can not enter as a freshmen and that is a very bad thing for pharmacy majors.
I hope this helps! I hope you have fun at the game on the 14th.

Steph -- how was the game and reception last night??
Uggggggg I wasn't able to go last night. Something came up and I couldn't make it....Plus I was on the waiting list so I probably wouldn't have been able to go even if I could have....I was so disappointed!! Did any of you guys go to the game? How was it?
One more question: Do you know of any pharmacy-related programs that I could come and visit at Butler...(tours, meetings, etc.)? Is there a weekly program or something that allows prospective pharmacy students to come and visit?
Thanks so much! Steph
Steph--
Butler actually has a meeting you can attend that is specific to Pharmacy. We have you attend a basic Butler presentation, a pharmacy specific presentation and a tour. If you go to our website for visits, go.butler.edu/visit and click on Explore Butler. From there, you fill out the form for Pharmacy and we'll get a visit set up for you! Keep in mind that these programs run during the week (Tuesday through Friday) at usually are at 11 and go until about 2. Does that make sense? Please let me know if I can be of further help!!!
Thanks all of you guys for all of the helpful hints/advice! I have another question....we are starting scheduling for senior year already, and I just wanted to make sure that I got all of my helpful science credits in. What sort of science classes are you especially looking for or would benefit me greatly? I have already taken Biology, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. I was thinking about maybe Organic Chem/Biochemistry, Physics, Human Genetics, AP Biology, AP Psychology etc etc. I have no idea which would be the best for prospective pharmacy students. Thanks again for the previous advice/comments!
Hey Steph! Ok so I'm definitely NOT a Pharmacy major, but I always hear all of my friends talking about O-Chem, and how it's one of the tougher courses....so it probably wouldn't hurt to take it in high school if it's available! Again, this is coming from a Marketing/Comm Studies major...
p.s. it's great that you're so focused, I was the same way in high school, but don't forget that this is your last year ever, so make sure you have some fun, too =)
Steph-
As an Admission Counselor, I definitely agree with what Christina's said. Organic Chemistry is a class you'll have to take as a Pharmacy major here, and if you can already have a background/working knowledge of the subject, you'll be ahead of the game!! (Also, it's awesome that you are able to take that as a high school student. That's not a class I see offered too often!)
Great questions-so keep them coming. Have a good rest of your semester!!
hey! in case you havent seen my other postings, i am bob and i am from michigan. and i applied to butler. thats about it.
Hey Bob! Glad Soulja Boy inspired you to sign up! : )
Also, congrats on sending in your application! That's the hard part... now you get to just sit and wait! Applying to college is a fun time, though. I remember getting my acceptance letter from Butler at the end of December during my senior year. It was the first acceptance letter I got and it was SO exciting!
What part of Michigan are you from? I was born and grew up in Dearborn (near Detroit) so I'm a Michigan girl who calls Illinois home and is now a pseudo-Hoosier haha.

Hi Bob,
There are a few "Bob"s or "Robert"s that have applied from Michigan, so I might have already been in contact with you. I am your admission counselor. Let me know if you have any questions!
