    Books

Hey! So this might be a nerd question but oh well.

So i have a couple questions. How do you find out what books you need for class?

& How do you go about purchasing them?

If somebody could answer my questions that would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Books

From what I've heard from other students:

At the beginning of August, the bookstore will have a search feature to find out what books you will need for each class (or you can email the teacher)...From there you can either buy the books through your student account on the bookstore website and the books will be in your residence hall when you arrive...or you can order your books through other websites that sometimes have better prices (Amazon, Ecampus, etc.)

Perhaps someone else can offer some more advice.

    Re: Books

If you go to www.efollett.com you can find out which books you will need by putting in your class # and section (MBA535A, for example).  Like Seth said, that won't be available for the fall semester until later this summer.

I highly recommend www.campusi.com for your book search.  It will search Half/Amazon/Barnes & Noble/eBay/Abe's/etc. and show you the lowest price with shipping included.

I saved nearly $3-400 a SEMESTER by shopping for used books online through college.  In my personal opinion, eFollett is very overpriced and not fair to the student.

    Re: Books

eFollett just added information for Fall Semester books, you can add your classes and they will notify you once book information is ready.  I am doing this so that I can find out the book info on the courses that I'm unsure of right away.  That way I can find the best deals through some external websites.

Every time I try to add books to my cart it doesn't let me save it and then loses all that I did. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Re: Books

I emailed all my professors and they all sent me all the booklists for their classes. So try that! Using campusi.com, I found all the books I need for like $150.

    Re: Books

I also have a few questions to ask about books..

    - do you need the books by the first day of class?

    - can you purchase all your books at the bookstore the few days before classes start?

    - how do you go about purchasing the books through your student account?

    thanks in advance!

    Re: Books

    Hey Kerri!

    -  Not always, it depends on what the professor does. Usually they just go through their syllabus and give you an idea of the class, then hand out first reading assignment.

    - You can purchase them at the bookstore. I would recommend searching online at www.campusi.com as well, you'll save money but won't have your books as quickly.

    - I am not sure about this one.  You would have to ask the bookstore if it is possible.  Their phone # is 317-940-9362.

    Re: Books

What I did to purchase through the bookstore was add the books I wanted to buy that were cheapest at the bookstore(not many) to my cart.  I went through the payment and everything normal, but checked the option to pick up at the store so I didn't have to pay shipping.  Then, on payment method, I chose financial aid and then entered my student ID.  So far, everything has gone through and I have not received notification that this was not the way to go, so I hope everything gets to where it needs to be.
