Butler University

So, I'm trying to get my application taken care of for Butler [hoping to meet the November 15th deadline way ahead of time], when I stumbled upon a new question. How, exactly, do you go about sending letters of recommendation in the admission process? Does Butler take them into consideration?

Thanks for writing!  Glad to hear that you're applying to Butler and doing it early!!  So for the letters of recommendation, since technically we don't require any as a part of the application process (other than from your counselor on the Secondary School Report form) you can submit them in whatever number and format you'd like.  If you apply online, you can simply have them sent to us directly from your high school along with your transcript and SSR.  I usually recommend to folks that 2-3 letters in addition to your counselor is a good number.  Does this help?  And YES, whatever you submit we will take into consideration when making a decision...

Also, a question concerning the online application. At an earlier time, I had entered some colleges in the "Additional Information" tab, colleges I assumed I would be applying to later on. I am not so sure about some of a couple of them now, so I went to try and remove them from the list. However, the added colleges are refusing to delete. Any suggestions?

Yeah I don't know about this...let me check into it and see what I might be able to find out.

Otherwise, it's really no big deal to go ahead and apply with this information included, even if you don't plan on applying to all of the schools you list.  We don't confirm that information or anything like that, it's more for our informational purposes.

Although Recommendation Letteres are not a requirement.

If I send them in does it help me at all in the admissions process?

I would send them in. If you have letters of recommendation, we only need two. It helps us (as your admission counselors) to get an even better idea of who you are, beyond academics or activities. Does that make sense?

I have already applied for Butler and had my counselor mail my transcripts and ACT scores.

Should I send them still seperately? I was unsure because it was not a requirement for the admissions process.
