Are there merit based scholarships available to students with high ACT/SAT scores and GPAs?

Here is more info on merit-based awards at Butler: http://www.butler.edu/admissions/finaid/mtawards.asp?pglnks=new&id=prosp

Yes, there sure are!   Good question...

Every student who applies for admission to Butler is automatically considered eligible for all our freshman academic scholarship programs.  For a full listing of what is available, I would encourage you to check out the following site:  http://www.butler.edu/admissions/finaid/mtawards.asp?pglnks=new&id=prosp

Note that if you're a senior in high school this year you will want to apply with a completed application by our Early Action deadline of November 15th, if at all possible.  This will give you maximum (or priority) consideration for our freshman academic scholarship programs.

Hope this helps!  Have a good one...

Hey, I'm sure someone from Admissions will give you the official answer soon, but I can tell you about my experience as someone at Butler on merit scholarships.  I have several kinds of scholarships: National Merit, a Presidential scholarship (not tied to my major) and a departmental scholarship for English (dependent on me being an English major).

The presidential scholarship was offered to me based on my application to Butler... so yes, this contained my ACT scores and GPA, but also my transcript, essay and extracurricular info.  I think Butler is good about looking at applicants as people and not just numbers like your test scores or grade point, so I am guessing that the scholarships are awarded on this basis.

For my departmental scholarship, it was based on all the above qualities, but I also came to campus for Scholar's Weekend in February and had an interview with an English professor (which is not scary like it sounds... I actually had a blast meeting him)

Hopefully that helps a little, and I'm sure Megan or Brad or someone can tell you a bit more.

Hi!

I am an international undergraduate prospective student.

My total annual financial support is over $41450,the comprehensive expenses for attendance.
Does that mean I can not receive schoolarship?

There will be too much load for my family if I cannot receive any schoolarship.  :(
