Wow that is good that they have that many jobs, because I think I would most certinly rather work on campus then off campus.

    Hey Nicole,

Just wanted to add my own experience... last year I had three on campus jobs: blogging, tutoring other students in the Writer's Studio and working as an assistant for one of my professors in the English Department.  I worked about 3-6 hours in each of these jobs.  There are definitely some jobs that offer more hours, but I just preferred to take up a few smaller jobs to keep it interesting.

Also, don't totally dismiss the option of working off-campus (unless you don't have a car.) Butler has job fairs that help you find employment off-campus if that's something you are interested in.  My freshman year I worked for a tutoring agency and got to work with students in an inner city high school, which was a really rewarding job and an experience I would not have traded for anything!

I think it really depends on what job you're looking at. We just had to fill out applications to be bloggers, but I think you have to be recommended by a professor if you're going to be a tutor or a lab assisstant. There's a department at Butler (located in Atherton Union) called Internship and Career Services. They help students find jobs, either on campus or off campus, and they can help you go through the entire process.

    Re: Student Employment

There is actually a job fair-for on campus employment during your Welcome Week/Orientation program. That's where I would recommend starting to look. There are a lot of departments and places on campus that utilize that job fair as a way to get student workers. We actually have over 900 on campus jobs, so hopefully you'll be able to find something you like!!
