Can someone please describe homecoming at Butler? How different is it from a high school homecoming?

    Re: homecoming

Homecoming is coming up soon! It's at the end of October, and it's always a lot of fun. I have clusters, so I still haven't decided if I'll be going to the game or not this year. I bet Jake would be up for doing a video though, he's the president of Dawg Pound and he never misses athletic events!

I didn't actually have a homecoming at my high school, so I don't really know how Butler's homecoming would be different. We basically have a week of events though, and the Greek houses participate a lot. There's a cool competition, where all the Greek houses and residence halls get paired together to create huge decorations which are put up on the lawns of all the sorority houses. There's a theme for the decorations each year, and it's amazing the amount of work that goes into everything! My freshman year the theme was "I don't wanna grow up" and everything was children-themed. I remember the Kappa Alpha Theta house had a Peter Pan theme, and the Alpha Chi Omega house was decorated with a Candyland theme. If you happen to visit Butler during the week of homecoming, I would definitely suggest walking down Hampton Drive and checking it all out! There are a lot of other events....a midnight buffet one night, and we have a vote for Homecoming King and Queen. You can always buy homecoming t-shirts that are based around that year's theme at Starbucks. There's a parade before the game on the day of homecoming, and of course, there's the homecoming game! It's by far the most popular football game to attend all year. The king and queen are announced at that game, and there's tailgating before the game. It's a lot of fun!
