I have looked everywhere and can't find the answer to this: I am an incoming freshman, and I will be commuting. I don't want to purchase a meal plan, but can I still get Dawg Bucks or Flex Dollars on a card, so I don't have to carry cash around? If so, will I use my Student ID to purchase food, or will I have a separate card? Also, what is the difference between Dawg Bucks and Flex Dollars?

Hello. Since you are commuting I belive you are able to be exempt from your meal plan obligation.  You can still put Flex Dollars onto your butler card. You can add money to your Flex Dollar account by either sending a check or money order to ARAMARK, 704 West Hampton Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. You can also do it through the web. Check out this site for more information.  As for the card it just goes on your student ID card which you will always carry with you. This acts as your ID, Flex Money card, and card to access key card entry area's.  I'm not sure the difference between Flex Dollars and Dawg Bucks (Haven't actually heard of Dawg Bucks before and I'm a junior) but i do know with every 50 dollars added in Dawg Bucks you get an extra 5% added to your account (not sure about Flex Dollars though). Hope that helps you out and Congradulations on Butler, I have throughouly enjoyed the school and hope you do as well.

Additionally, Dawg Bucks do not expire, at least not until you graduate - not sure what happens then.   Flex Dollars on the other hand expire at the end of each semester...
