FREE breakfast at Denny's

Back in February, Denny's offered free Grand Slam breakfasts to anyone who came in after 6 am. We got there at 6:15 and the line was already out the door... and the place was packed with BU students! Here we are devouring every college student's favorite: free food!

If you asked me what my favorite thing I did in Paris was, I would definitely reply "Walking around and eating!"

With so many cute cafes and dessert shops, you can achieve both of these joys simultaneously. When I was wandering around the classy Ile de St Louis, I saw this little chocolate and caramel tart in a window and had to stop and by it. I'm not sure which was more cute - the dessert or the street I bought it on - but I DO know that it ranked in the Top 5 desserts of my entire life. Mmmmmmm!

In many ways, being a study abroad student living with a host family was like being in first grade again. We went on field trips almost every week, and for those days our mamas would pack us lunches with sandwiches and juice boxes, which we would of course compare to see who got the best ones.

When we went to the Alcazar in Segovia, which is supposedly one of the castles which inspired Disney, we climbed up to the top of the tower (the stairs were brutal!) and then sat down and had a picnic lunch on top of the castle. You know, just a regular day in Spain.

How to pour sidra

One of the vendors at the Cervantes Week festival was celling sidra, cider from Asturias in northern Spain (where I went hiking.) We bought some, but the hard part is pouring it! You are supposed to pour it from really far away to "get air in it" (who knows if that actually works), but it is NOT so easy to get it in the bottle when aiming from high up!

My favorite meal in Spain

I know this may not look so tasty, but I promise this was the best meal I ate in all of Spain. It was from a tiny local restaurant in the mountains of the northern part of Spain, called Asturias and is one of the most popular regional foods in Spain.

It's a stew called fabada made with beans and sausages and served with the local speciality cider. Mmmmmm. Perfect for a cool night in the mountains!

If you ever study abroad, just taste everything. You might not like it all, but it will definitely be an experience.

The best (and cheapest) food in Europe

Bread is a college student abroad's best friend. It is cheap, delicious and available everywhere. Need a snack or a meal? Just duck into the nearest panderia, buy a loaf of excellent carbs for 80 cents and you are set.

I am in love with Buca's tiramisu - my dad thought this was a good excuse to shove a heaping spoonful of it at me. Of course I didn't eat ALL that tira misu... I ate it all the next day : )
