Sadly, mine isn't as cool as the others, but I did try!!! And mine is of my entire house....which I think is...

  • Re: Dance

Ah, you must have been in my audition class! Were you the group that auditioned while the studio had been converted into a studio theater? D eshanked shoes: The only thing I think that was said was: "We wear deshanked shoes for technique classes. I had never worn them before I came here, and some...

  • What I wish I knew then that I know now...

Let me start this off by saying that it finally feels like fall. It's lovely. As I look back on all the time I have already spent here, I thought of all the things that I have learned in the past few weeks... thing I wish I had known before I started school. I don't want to leave everyone in...

  • 80s Prom!

One of the things that the juniors and seniors at Butler are most proud of is our status as children of the 1980s. Yes, we are the babies of the decade, and we really don't have too many coherent memories from it, but it still makes us feel way more retro and cool to say we lived in such a ridiculous...

  • When in Rome

It's a Sunday. It's 4:20 and I just visited all the sororities with some girls from my unit, 1E (except Alpha Phi. We were too late.) and, before, I was total skeptic about sororities and greek life. I had heard from friends about hazing and drinking and such at different schools and I did NOT...

Hey Callie Though I was never in a Frat I too did track and to be honest it depends on 1 your major, 2 the number of credits you choose to take and 3 if you want a social life. I was totally overwhelmed when I did 18crds, track and blogging. I also tried to rush to Snu, after about 1month I was completely...

  • Butler's Best Dance Crews

One interesting college phenomenon is the lipsync. At Butler, we use this term on practically a weekly basis, and yet lipsyncs do not involve any singing or even mouthing the words. Butler's term "lipsync" is just another word for "group dance competition"- usually one that provides...

  • Family night at Pi Phi

One fun part of the new member process is finding out who your Big Sis is! This is an older member of the chapter who serves as a mentor for one of our new Pi Phis. We "reveal" the sister pairings at a fun night full of songs, games, and sugar! An old Pi Phi tradition is the cookieshine where...

  • The Spice Girls, live at Hinkle Fieldhouse

One of my initiatives for Panhel, the group which oversees all the sororities, is for us to be a united force of women supporting women. So, I organized a fun evening for all the sorority women at a BU women's basketball game which was on ESPN. The theme was "Spice Up the Night! Girl power for...

  • Crazy new members on Bid Day

So, the new members of Butler's sororities find out what house they are in; then they go to a ceremony in the student union where the Recruitment Counselors reveal what houses they are part of and then... they all come RUNNING out of Atherton Union to join their new sisters on Rowdy Row. It is insanity...

  • Re: Traditions!

Funny you should ask! This is a question I asked pretty much everyone I know at Butler last year when I was editor of the yearbook and we did a "Butler Traditions" page. Here's what we came up with: Fountain jumping - This is the number one Butler tradition, in my opinion! Groups of friends...

  • Re: Fraternity Housing

Hey Bob - I actually did see a sorority while I was a senior in HS, because when I came to visit my host was Greek and she took me over to see her house. So, if you know or meet someone on campus who is Greek, they would probably be willing to give you a tour. However, open houses don't really happen...
