Break Stay. This is what it's called when your flight does not leave Indianapolis until Sunday and the dorms officially close Saturday and in reality, a lot of people have gone home on Friday. This is what it's called when you fill out a break stay form and get permission to stay in the building...

  • Itadakimasu!

For those of you who don't know, I'm secretly Japanese. Okay not really. That's why it's a secret. But I did take four years of Japanese in high school. That's right, I was practically fluent, and then I graduated and I haven't spoken much since. I miss my Japanese class a lot...

  • The Shame Game

I quit NaNoWriMo. It was killing my soul to do it and it's killing my soul not to do it, but I had to choose the path that would prevent me from causing physical harm to inanimate objects during Thanksgiving break. In a strange turn of events, I've been doing a whole ton of other writing, which...

  • Ballet, bagels, and other things that start with B

Studio Dress was yesterday--the Nutcracker has finally been assembled! Now come the daily run-throughs. Maybe I'll put a schedule up of what we did during Studio Dress, but now I want to talk about my friend's birthday and what's going to happen today. So my friend turned twenty! It was incredibly...

  • Parents Weekend!

The time of year is upon us once again, and it only means one thing: PARENTS WEEKEND ! The only downfall of this time means my parents usually are unable to travel to Butler, but the fun thing about this weekend is seeing all my friend's parents. Each year it is always interesting to see who my friend's...

  • Dawg Bucks

I have looked everywhere and can't find the answer to this: I am an incoming freshman, and I will be commuting. I don't want to purchase a meal plan, but can I still get Dawg Bucks or Flex Dollars on a card, so I don't have to carry cash around? If so, will I use my Student ID to purchase...

  • Re: Help Needed for a prospective student

I agree with Stephanie's suggestions... those are the best delivery options. However, the most popular restaurants that people go together late at night are probably Qdoba, Noodles & Co (both in Broad Ripple or downtown) and Steak and Shake (tons of Indy locations) so she could use those as well...

  • FREE breakfast at Denny's

Back in February, Denny's offered free Grand Slam breakfasts to anyone who came in after 6 am. We got there at 6:15 and the line was already out the door... and the place was packed with BU students! Here we are devouring every college student's favorite: free food!

  • Re: Meal Plans

I believe the cost is the same no matter which plan you choose (that's just from my memory of freshman year... correct me if I am wrong!!) and it is just the balance between meals and flex dollars which varies. The more meals you get, the less flex dollars you will have. The other thing to note is...

  • How to pour sidra

One of the vendors at the Cervantes Week festival was celling sidra, cider from Asturias in northern Spain (where I went hiking.) We bought some, but the hard part is pouring it! You are supposed to pour it from really far away to "get air in it" (who knows if that actually works), but it is...

  • My favorite meal in Spain

I know this may not look so tasty, but I promise this was the best meal I ate in all of Spain. It was from a tiny local restaurant in the mountains of the northern part of Spain, called Asturias and is one of the most popular regional foods in Spain. It's a stew called fabada made with beans and...

  • Re: Traditions!

Funny you should ask! This is a question I asked pretty much everyone I know at Butler last year when I was editor of the yearbook and we did a "Butler Traditions" page. Here's what we came up with: Fountain jumping - This is the number one Butler tradition, in my opinion! Groups of friends...

I am in love with Buca's tiramisu - my dad thought this was a good excuse to shove a heaping spoonful of it at me. Of course I didn't eat ALL that tira misu... I ate it all the next day : )
