  • Music I listen to -- because you care!

Right now, I need to finish cleaning my room and putting away dishes and drinking the rest of my coffee so I can have energy to do so. Instead, I've decided to describe, at length, my musical tastes because I need to remember there is music outside of the Harry Potter musical. Prepare to be dazzled...

  • Student Choreography Showcase: throat singing, violins, and lots of drums

October means it's time for the annual Student Choreography Showcase! Students from the Butler Dance Department have the opportunity to choreograph, set, and present short works (no longer than five minutes) each year. They are responsible for creating the work and scheduling night or weekend rehearsals...

  • "Are we still in Indy?" Alternative @ Oranje

I'm a big advocate for Indy and our art scene. Think what you want about Indiana, but there is way more creativity here than people might give us credit for! Especially since I have gotten involved with the theatre scene through my internship with IndyFringe this summer, I feel like I can't even...

  • Adolescent Diets

My mom was going to come visit me this Saturday but due to unforeseen circumstances, she can't. I'm bummed, but Kassandra and I are going to hang out and try and make up for the fact that my mom was going to buy some groceries for the apartment. I mean, visit. ;) But let me just say that for...

  • No Doubt rocks Indianapolis

I'm not usually a big concert attendee... it seems to me an awful lot of money to stand for a few hours and deal with drunk people when listening to music I already own. However, when I heard about the Green Team, I was definitely interested. This is a group of 16-22 year old volunteers that picks...

  • Class of 2013 ENewsletter

What's Happening in Indy? This week, explore the Komodo Dragons exhibit at the Indianapolis Zoo, watch “Field of Dreams” on the lawn at the Art Museum, see the new dinosaurs at The Children’s Museum or watch a baseball game at Victory Field with the Indianapolis Indians. Like concerts...

  • Re: colleges ?

[quote user="SethW08"] One thing, unfortunately that you will find very quickly is that hardly any undergraduate schools offer a major in conducting. My aspirations are to be a conductor as well! However, what I found with Butler is that the School of Music is so small and closely knit that...

  • Re: Traditions!

Funny you should ask! This is a question I asked pretty much everyone I know at Butler last year when I was editor of the yearbook and we did a "Butler Traditions" page. Here's what we came up with: Fountain jumping - This is the number one Butler tradition, in my opinion! Groups of friends...

  • Re: Singing in the Choir at Butler hopefully!

Oooops, my post got cut off before I could finish it! I think I am the kind of person you are talking about! I am an English and Spanish major, but I love music and wanted to stay involved in college, so I played clarinet in Symphonic Band my freshmen year and in Basketball Band every year. I am even...

  • Re: colleges ?

Hey Cnvrocker, Butler is GREAT for music ed! I have tons of friends who are music ed majors and they love the program. I have also seen several friends graduate from the Butler Music Ed department and be placed in their dream jobs upon graduation. Butler has a great music department and an outstanding...

  • Out of the Dawghouse

Butler's favorite all male a capella group performs in Starbucks at the weekly coffeehouse event. They had a great selection, included "Faded" by SoulDecision - does anyone else remember listening to that song when you were like 13?? It was absolutely hilarious to hear the guys perform...
