  • The S Word...

...stands for SENIOR. Also known as what I have officially become as of 5 pm Monday. But let's not say it too much, because the last few days and thinking about how little time I truly have left in college has gotten me even more stressed than finals. I had no exams, but my finals this year were...

  • What I Learned from Studying Abroad

Although I’ve been back in the States for about two months now, I still find myself thinking about study abroad on almost a daily basis. Almost everything reminds me of something from Spain. I talk about my experience in my classes all the time! It is ridiculous how much you can learn about the...

  • True Life: I was an Undergrad Law student in a Foreign Country

Hello from BUTLER! Yes I am finally back at school getting ready for sorority recruitment (and loving it!). However, before I get totally back into the swing of my crazy BU life, I want to hang on to the study abroad memories a little bit longer with a few extra posts I wrote in Spain. I know they’re...

  • Strange Encounters of the Butler Kind

You might think I’m making this up just to make a good story for my blog, but I SWEAR, this really happened to me, not once but twice in Europe. Let me explain. As you may remember, I recently took a trip to London, where obviously, I needed to go on a Harry Potter tour. Our guide designated one...

  • Angels with swords

This is Valle de los Caidos, the church/"memorial" that Franco (the fascist dictator) supposedly built in honor of those who died in the Spanish civil war... actually it appears that he built it more as his own tomb. He and the other biggest leader of fascism, Jose Antonio, are buried in this...

  • El Escorial

Yet another of the many royal palaces that we visited this semester. It made a nice day trip (about two hours from Alcala) and we met some cool students from Montana while scaling one of the walls! (please notice the foreboding clouds in the sky, though.)

  • 20th Birthday with my host family

My twentieth birthday in Spain was the first time I had celebrated without my family, but my host family was really sweet. They bought me a cake!

  • How easy is it to study abroad?

I got a great question about studying abroad from rme3 the other day and thought I would share the answer with all of you: How easy was it to study abroad? Do you lose essential classes to graduate or can you complete those abroad? Studying abroad at Butler is easy to do (and totally worth it!). We have...

  • Butler party in Spain

There are seventeen of us from Butler here in Spain, and once a month our professor, Dr. Willem, invites us over to her apartment for a BU reunion. She even had traditional Spanish party cakes for all of us... we ate soooo much! We also took time to catch up and share some stories from all of our adventures...

  • Interested in languages or study abroad?

Hey all! I have noticed in the "Favorite Classes" thread that there are a lot of you interested in foreign languages and studying abroad. I am a junior English and Spanish double major and I'm studying abroad with a Butler program in Madrid right now... and loving it! (You can read about...
