The costs of attending Butler University as a full-time undergraduate international student for the Academic Year 2009-2010 (Semester I and Semester II) are listed below:

Scholarships

A college education is an investment that lasts a lifetime. Butler University offers a variety of  options to help you finance your university education. Freshman Academic Scholarships

Students who submit complete applications for admission by January 15 (Early Action I, II) will be considered for a Freshman Academic Scholarship, regardless of need. Awards are based on strong academic and personal records of accomplishment.

  • Notification runs January 1 through March 1
  • Awards are renewable within the academic standards outlined in the scholarship offer
  • Awards are based on the applicant’s academic record — SAT and/or ACT scores, class rank, course selection, counselor recommendations and extracurricular involvement

National Merit, National Achievement and National Hispanic Scholarships

  • Semi-finalists in these programs are guaranteed a minimum Freshman Academic Scholarship. However, based on academic screening, they may qualify for a higher award.

Morton-Finney Leadership Awards

  • Students who have demonstrated a commitment to ethnic and racial diversity through activities in their high schools and communities will be automatically considered.
  • Interested students are encouraged to list related activities on their application for admission and focus on these activities in their personal statements.
  • Students applying for Early Admission (complete application submitted by November 15) will be given priority consideration.
  • Awards are based on class rank, SAT/ACT scores and active roles in multicultural and diversity-focused organizations.
  • Finalists will be invited to interview at one of the Butler University Scholars’ Forum programs in early February.
  • Renewable awards, starting at $2,000, are made each year. These awards include an expectation of continued campus and community leadership while at Butler.
  • A separate application is not required.

Talent Awards

  • The Jordan College of Fine Arts (JCFA) considers students majoring in the fine arts for talent awards. An audition or interview is required. JCFA audition applications will be mailed to all interested students or can be downloaded from http://go.butler.edu. Contact JCFA at (800) 368-6852, extension 9656, for additional information.
  • Athletic grants-in-aid are awarded in 14 NCAA Division I athletic programs. Contact the Department of Athletics at (800) 368-6852, extension 9375.

Center for Faith and Vocation Scholarship

The Butler University Center for Faith and Vocation gives students space to reflect on faith and spirituality during their time at Butler. The Center honors the diverse religious and spiritual experiences of Butler students and faculty, and works with the campus ministries to encourage distinct faith expression, as well as interfaith collaboration.

The Center will award three renewable scholarships to incoming freshmen who have an interest in exploring religious issues, ethics and spirituality.

  • Submit a complete Application for Freshman Admission and Scholarships by November 15.
  • A separate scholarship application will be mailed to students once they apply for admission.
  • Students of any faith or no particular religious affiliation can apply. The scholarships are open to ALL students, regardless of major. We are looking for students who are curious and creative, interested in service and community and ready to examine themselves and the world.
  • Recipients will become Center for Faith and Vocation Scholars. They will be expected to participate in Center activities, which include a freshman advising program, workshops and seminars on diverse religious issues, service initiatives and small-group discussions.
